He's napping...

...in his crib!!!! Through no effort of my own, Kyle is peacefully sleeping in his crib. Turns out the swing died right around his cranky/nap time today, so I took him in to his room and rocked him until he fell asleep. I couldn't hold him for the next couple hours (the boy is getting big!), so I swaddled him up and plopped him in the crib just to see what would happen. Well, he's still there sleeping...I'm so happy. No coughing or allergies yet, no spitting up, just sleeping.

This is the first time he's slept in his crib...so cool, but I'm not going to count on this happening on a regular basis...what he likes changes everyday!

*Yawn*

It'll be 4 weeks tomorrow...and we've just now figured out what calms Kyle down enough to sleep for longer periods of time and eat when he's hungry, not just needing to be comforted (thanks to this book/dvd).

Kyle has been a good eater since he was born, gaining 20 oz. in his first week! At WIC yesterday he was 10lbs 12 oz (which means those newborn clothes-up to 11 lbs-aren't going to fit for much longer). He has 2-3 wakeful times everyday that last about an hour and a half, otherwise he's eating and sleeping his days away.

He's a very sweet and cuddly baby; he'd prefer nothing more than to sleep on Kevin's or my chest all day, everyday. At night we have gotten him to sleep in a baby support pillow right by my head, swaddled up nice and tight. Understand, when I say "sleep" for Kyle, that means he's asleep for 1 1/2-2 hours. I have a feeling that sleeping in the crib is a few months away!

I wish I had a comparison picture for you of how big he is for 4 weeks compared to other 4 week old babies! He's very long, although he hasn't really gotten a lot of baby chub yet; still quite skinny.

He started wiggling last week, so we can no longer leave him on the couch or bed without watching him very carefully. Also, his neck is getting stronger everyday! He'll throw his head back and hold it up to look right at you when you're holding him, in addition to turning his head side to side when he's laying down/sleeping. It's truly amazing to see how he changes developmentally!

I'll try to post more often now that he's sleeping longer periods of time! Time for a shower...I've got 30 minutes before he wakes up ready to eat again! Still looking for pictures? Check out Kevin's blog.
